Orphans’ Homestead was once occupied by Major Gen. Howard as his head quarters at the battle of Gettysburg and was turned into an orphanage in 1866. It stands on Cemetery Hill, within a few rods of the vertex of the angle formed by our army in the army. It’s known that children at the orphanage underwent cruelty at the hands of one of the matrons. It has most recently been converted to a diorama museum entitled Civil War Tails.

The Michael Crist Farm is located on the north-west side of town, right near Seminary Ridge, and only a stone’s throw from the Lutheren Seminary. The farm is literally touching the battlefield, and was a confederate field hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg. In July 1863, confederate forces congregated on the fields of The Michael Crist Farm before heading south to fight the union army stationed in the town of Gettysburg. Check out more about it here.

The Haunted Creekbed at Winebrenner Run is located right behind our shop, and is home to some of the best paranormal activity in the town of Gettysburg itself. Many a union soldier perished along the banks of the creekbed, finding it’s cool waters soothing during the hot July sun. Explore the only portion of the original creekbed that still exists.

The Reynolds Death House, also known as the George George House, is where General John Reynolds lifeless body was taken after he suffered a fatal wound on the first day of battle, July 1st, 1863. During the battle, the house was positioned between Cemetery Ridge, the stronghold of the Union Army of the Potomac, and the Lutheran Seminary, where General Lee’s Confederate forces had amassed. This particular building sat along what was referred to as no man’s land during the time of the battle, as the streets ran red with blood. Be one of the few guests who get to explore and investigate this haunted historical building for yourself, and find out why several spirits still linger to this day. Sach’s Covered Bridge is just a short drive to the south of town, right on the outskirts of the battlefields near Pickett’s Charge. The Confederate Army was positioned right across the river and once the battle had ended they retreated across this bridge, walking right past 3 Confederate deserters, who were executed and displayed for thier crimes. A hotspot for paranormal activity, the bridge was also used as a field hospital during those 3 days in July.

The Tillie Pierce House Inn is named after the famous young lady, Matilda J. Pierce who, at the age of fifteen, witnessed the bloody battle first hand while assisting the wounded. The house was located along “No Man’s Land”, where some of the fiercest battles were fought in 1863. Located in downtown Gettysburg along the Trolley line.

The Jennie Wade Birth House is located at 242 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA.

At the age of 20, Jennie Wade was the only direct civilian casualty during the Battle of Gettysburg. She was killed by a stray bullet. The house now hosts the Museum of Haunted Objects as well. 

Investigate this authentic Civil War School House from the 1800’s. A horrific cavalry battle took place in the woods directly behind this building in July of 1863. Check out more about it here.
